THE PROSPECTIVES OF DISTANCE LEARNING IN NORTHERN UNIVERSITY
Within the framework of the Armenian Innovation Competitiveness Foundation (CIF), on December 23, 2016 the " Distance learning courses combined with distance learning technologies ", signed between the "Center for Educational Programs" and the Northern University, was launched.
The goal of the project is to promote the development of distance learning in Armenia and to provide higher education in the regions through balanced development of educational services and the use of modern information technologies.
The implementation of the project is planned in 4 stages, within 20 months. The first phase of the project is coming to an end (from January 1 to June 30), during which new laboratories with appropriate furnishing and computer equipment were established both in Alaverdi branch of Northern University and in Yerevan.
In the second phase of the Action Plan, activities will be launched in the direction of transformation of the electronic textbooks of the training materials of distance learning, elaboration of methodological manuals and transformation of the university's website (from where access to the distance learning platform will be available).
Have you ever though who are you- leaders?, or simply impersonal creatures, who obeys the orders, and which characteristics are typical for a true leader?!.
All these questions have found their answers during the <open> class held by faculty of Economy. The author of the initiative was the head of Economics Chair, professor Armen Tshughuryan, and the participators were students from 3rd and 4th courses. The <open> class was held as a competition, jury was selected (head of jury- Philosophy doctor, professor Valeri Mirzoyan), after which, with the help of small performances the students presented their ideas about <leader> and <manager>. The jury assesses their acting, creativity, and students’ academic perception about <leader> and <manager> concepts.
I was thinking. “Oh My God, I am suffering from all these diseases, possible and impossible types of stress, alarms, fears…and it seemed nothing could help me, but suddenly I was awake. I was just participating in the <open> class of Psychology faculty 2nd year students, from <Psychology> subject and, I was listing to very interesting theme- stress, alarms, emotions, causes of their occurrence, prevention measures.
Later, lecturer, psychologist (moreover practic), Eva Hovhannisyan explained that this phenomena is called third year student's syndrome of medical faculty, when while examining the diseases, it seems students that they have all the mentioned symptoms. Besides, I had that kind of feeling, because students were perfectly prepared for the lesson, spotless, faultless. Each topic was reflected in the chart, which gave the opportunity to imagine objectively what they had said. As lecturer Eva Hovhannisyan mentioned, the theme of the lesson wasn’t selected randomly, because nowadays, the probability of being exposed to stress is considerably high and students presented the measures of overcoming stress in systematic and understandable way, which could be very useful.
It should be mentioned, that many of students admired us by their literate speeches and ease behavior and some of them overcame their fear of speaking to the public just in the auditorium.
